It was dark alright. But what's wrong with that?

Dancer in the Dark is a great movie.

I loved everything in it. Perhaps I didn't see a reason for that lawyer to be accusing Bjork's character of hating America but there might be a good reason and even if not, it is only a little thing.

8/10 might seem kind of low compared to my comments but 8 for me is very good and it's almost a 9.

  1. That must be a good movie, I'll have to check it out. What are some other movies that rank in the 8, almost 9 category for you?

  2. From what I can remember:

    Cztery noce z Anna (2008)
Dead Again (1991) (I saw it as a kid)
    Double Indemnity (1944)
    Frozen River (2008)
    Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
    Moulin Rouge! (2001)
    Secrets & Lies (1996)
    Sunset Blvd. (1950)
    The Lady Eve (1941)
    Adaptation (2002)

I liked your question because I think the "8 close to 9" and above are the movies I love.

  3. Dead Again-Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Robin Williams! How have I not seen this? :)
Double Indemnity...love Billy Wilder films. It's been a while since I've seen this but great choice.
You have a very eclectic list here, James. It's wonderful to see such an appreciation for unique films. A great mix of black & whites, comedy, music and drama.
