The acting teacher

I don't know if I liked the film but Hupper was amazing. How someone can not do whatever she asks of him is beyond me.

Any movies of hers that you saw and liked? I might see her in Streetcar this summer!!

Shut up, just shut up.

You had me at "hello"

It's a 8/10, by the way. I watched it yesterday for the first time.

In case you hadn't heard of him..

Yesterday, I saw Thirst (very good) and I really loved the music. It was composed by Yeong-wook Jo, who is also the composer of the other, supposedly great, (I haven't seen it) Chan-wook Park film, Oldboy.

Is anyone familiar with his work? Based on Thirst alone, I think he is veeery talented.

Hot!

"Are you sure there isn't any question you're dying to ask me?"

"None!"

Reminder

Give her a big movie role!
I mean it!!

Good news

We know that comedies, fantasy movies, sci-fi movies etc make more money than serious dramas. So, I was really glad that Precious, a not very attractive film, did good last year. Yeah, it's not exactly news, but it's part of evaluating 2009 now that we're done with the Oscars.

Having earned 47.5 million dollars in the USA, it has proved that critics and awards can help a movie that doesn't seem like something most people would want to watch.

Will there be a Precious this year? Or more than one?

The Valedictorian and the Prom Queen? Just kidding

Carey: In what way is my character angry?

Keira: Shut up. I'm having sex with the camera.

Lost in the way

Why has it come down to Good vs Evil (as if we've never seen that before) when this (ex?) fantastic show was supposed to dig deeper than that and present the complexity of the human nature?

I hope they know what they're doing.

I'm watching it! I'm here to prove it

2:16am (Greece time)

Well, we're in the red carpet zone.

I liked Anthony Mackie's nasty comment about Avatar.

Cameron thinks he's going to win. Poor guy.

2:26

Meryl looks great in white. In black too. And yellow.

Dammit! Why are people pretending Clooney is still interesting in the red carpet?

2:32

Will I live to see Mirren looking ugly-old? I don't think so.

Kristen Stewart looks bored once again. Is it plastic surgery or just how she feels?

2:42

Sarah Jessica Parker was born to be on red carpets! It's her land.

2:45

Miley Cyrus talks as if she is 40. She's pretty cool, actually. First surprise of the night.

2:52

The Godess has arrived!

I kind of don't like the dress. But who cares? She is beautiful.

2:59

Dammit! (again) Now I have to take that first "dammit" back because I realized why people think Clooney is still interesting. Because he is. I really liked what he said about how they know who's gonna win and how much a nomination is good for the career of a good, but not yet recognized actor.

3:45

The introduction was funny but kind of embarrassing! For Clooney, at least.

Why are the clips so long? I like it!

3:50

It's Waltz. Obviously. Deserved. Nice speech.

4:00

UP won. Of course I knew it would but I'm still disappointed.

4:17

Boal for The Hurt Locker! Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

4:23

Lovely tribute to John Hughes!

Macaulay Culkin used to look exactly like me. We aged quite differently.

4:37

I did not just watch that!! The man (co-winner of the best short doc award) began to speak but they put music. Embarrassiiiing!

4:42

Stiller was pretty cool!

4:52

Precious for best adapted screenplay!! Wow! Thank God. I loved the kind-of-a-speech! The reactions too! Steve Martin drove it to perfection!

5:01

Mo'Nique, you. are. the. (wo)man! Performance, not politics. Exactly. The rest of the speech was nice in her sweet-angry way.

5:08

Avatar guys bore me. No, I was not that moved, sorry.

5:12

Wow! Sandy Powell rocks! Great speech.

5:22

Why do I think I'm loving this year's Oscars?

5:28

The Hurt Locker wins everything!! Kathryn looks so happy!

5:41

I liked the tribute to the people who passed awat lat year but they really should hold the applaud for the end. It's not a competition between the dead.

5:46

Glasses make Sam Worthington look even less talented.

5:56

"Avatar is a movie about learning to see the world in a new way" or something. Really? No, thank you.

6:10

It's official. The Hurt Locker IS 2009's best motion picture. Alright, not yet. Tecnically...

6:17

El Secreto de sus Ojos wins. Not totally surprising but still, it beat some strong competition.

6:35

I'm happy for Jeff but, this speech is just too boring.

6:37

It's over and I feel gooood! I didn't want Sandra to win but that speech made me happy that she did. And of course, I am very happy for Kathryn and The Hurt Locker!

That's all folks.

Lady and the Tramp

I need to see Judi Dench and Jack Nicholson in movies now! And I don't need small roles. Enough of that. They're leading actors for God's sake! They're not getting any younger, so someone has to give them something good right. this. second.

It would be even cooler if they were in the same movie and yes, I mean as a couple. Or two people in love who don't end up as a couple. Whatever. Sex scenes would be appreciated.

Just to be clear. Nancy Meyers, stay away from them!

"You don't love me, do you?"

"I'm too cool for that"

I love animated films but...

Sometimes I just don't get people. And it's usually the other way around.

Why do so many people think Up is great? I'd say it's not even good. Well, it's almost good. Do they like the fact that it's about an old man? Do they like the balloons? The fact that the balloons make the house fly? The big bird? The little kid? The Schwarzenegger-like dogs? What? WHAT? I'd say the big bird was the most interesting thing and the colors were nice but the movie is oooooveeerrATED!

If someone loves it and cares to explain why, please go ahead and do it!

"Hey James, how can you resist me?

Meeeemoreeees

When I watched Merlin as a teenager, I loooved it. I loved everything about it. It made feel thrilled, scared, sad, happy. Back then, I coudn't ask for more.

I haven't seen it for a long time and have no idea how I would react if I watched it today. I hope the magic would still be there. Anyone seen it?

Mina La Divina

You want voice? What about personality on stage? Maybe a little mystique? You have all three in Mina! The greatest Italian singer ever!

She has lived almost everything and has sung almost everything. Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, anything! Liza Minelli called her "Robert De Niro of singing". Or something like that. She can make every song interesting and her own. She can be smooth as well as explosive and whatever she does amazes me!

Here, she probably astonished even herself with a performance that easily eclipses volcanic eruptions.

Princess>Lady

I recently watched two movies that I liked. My Fair Lady and Princess and The Frog.

While as I said, I enjoyed both movies, the legendary classic bored me many times whereas the recent, not that high praised animated movie offered me a really great time. Am I completely immature? Am I pathetically clueless on what good cinema is? Whatever the case, the less admirable cartoon felt much more powerful.

It wasn't very original but that's why I give it "only" an 8 out of 10.

Hepburn's movie was cute, intelligent and silly at the same time, and had a unique identity. Still, it didn't feel as magical as I wanted it to.

I think the problem was Hepburn. While she was good, she didn't make me care about her character enough.

So, the grades are:

My Fair Lady 7/10 (almost 6)
Princess and The Frog 8/10 (almost 7)

"He liked us!!"
