We know that comedies, fantasy movies, sci-fi movies etc make more money than serious dramas. So, I was really glad that Precious, a not very attractive film, did good last year. Yeah, it's not exactly news, but it's part of evaluating 2009 now that we're done with the Oscars.
Having earned 47.5 million dollars in the USA, it has proved that critics and awards can help a movie that doesn't seem like something most people would want to watch.
Will there be a Precious this year? Or more than one?

I'm sure there will be...I also really hope there is another foreign film crossover like City of God or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, but I hope they don't have to be that big to have commercial success. The movies you mentioned are legendary. If people give their money to watch SHERLOCK HOLMES, they should also watch A PROPHET.
